You're not the only one.

Opening your Bible can feel like something it was never meant to be. If any of this sounds familiar, you're in good company.

Have you ever opened your Bible and felt disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, and then quietly wondered if something was wrong with you?

It feels like effort

You've tried to "do it right," and somewhere along the way it started to feel more like performance than presence.

You're not sure where to start

Reading plans feel rigid. Open pages feel blank. You want something in between, a rhythm, not a rulebook.

You want to hear Him

Not just read about Him. You're looking for a way to actually notice what God might be saying to you, today, on this page.

What makes this different

Most Bible studies hand you more to do. This one hands you a place to land.

The Canvas Method isn't a curriculum or a checklist. It's a simple, repeatable way to come close, built for real mornings and real seasons.

  • Not a reading plan. You can use it with any verse, any version, any translation, whenever you're ready.
  • Not a study guide. There's nothing to finish, nothing to fall behind on, nothing to feel guilty about.
  • Not performance. It's a guided rhythm of encounter, one page, six gentle movements, as much space as you need.
the method

Six gentle movements. One page. CANVAS.

Each letter is a step. Together they form a rhythm you can return to as often as you need, morning, evening, or in the middle of something hard.

Step 01

Come Close

Quiet your heart and draw near. A breath, a prayer, a pause before the page.

Step 02

Ask

Invite God into your time. "What do You want to show me today?", and then listen.

Step 03

Notice

Read slowly. Let one word or phrase stand out. No pressure to find the "right" one.

Step 04

Visualise

What do you see, feel, or sense? An image, a colour, an impression, it all counts.

Step 05

Apply

Where is this landing in your life? What wants to shift, heal, or grow?

Step 06

Speak & Surrender

Declare what God said. Release what's heavy. Leave it on the page and walk lighter.

Is this for you?

An honest list, both ways. Because the right invitation matters more than the loudest one.

This is for you if…

  • You want your quiet time to feel like connection, not a checkbox.
  • You've tried reading plans and they've left you feeling behind or empty.
  • You're drawn to journaling, creativity, or a slower way of processing.
  • You want a simple rhythm you can actually keep, not another system to master.
  • You're ready to hear God personally, even if it's just one word at a time.

This probably isn't for you if…

  • You're looking for a structured theological study or academic commentary.
  • You prefer strict verse-by-verse exposition with no reflective space.
  • You want a fast answer rather than a slow, listening practice.
A note from Lize

I made this page because I needed it first.

For years I thought Bible study meant pushing through. More verses. More notes. More effort. But the harder I tried, the further away God seemed to feel, and the more quiet time became another thing I was failing at.

The Canvas Method came out of that honest place. A simple rhythm that gave me permission to slow down, to listen, to bring my whole self to the page, art, emotion, mess and all. It changed how I meet God. I'm sharing it in case it helps you too.

questions

A few honest questions.

If you're wondering about any of these, you're not alone.

Yes, completely. Enter your name and email, and the printable lands in your inbox. My only ask is that you actually use it, give it a week, and see what shifts.
No. The Canvas Method uses the word "canvas" because it's a place to land, not because it requires drawing skills. If you can write a sentence, underline a word, or sit with an image in your mind, you have everything you need.
Any one you love. The method is designed to work with whatever version you read, NIV, ESV, NKJV, The Message, or something else. Choose the one that feels most alive to you in this season.
As little as 15 minutes or as long as an hour, it's up to you. The rhythm works whether you have a full morning or a quick pause between school runs.
No. You'll get the printable, a short welcome, and occasional gentle notes when I have something I truly believe will serve you. You can unsubscribe with one click, anytime.
Yes. You don't have to arrive anywhere before you begin. This is a page to meet Him from wherever you actually are, tired, hopeful, doubting, tender, quiet. All of it is welcome.
